Saint John
Lodge #18 Dedicates
NEW
FREEMASONS HALL IN PIOCHE
Dateline: Pioche,
Nevada, 13 May 2000.
Saint John Lodge #18 of Pioche, Nevada (a small,
colorful, historic, gold-rush era mining town, 175 miles north
of Las Vegas) has constructed a new Lodge Hall Building. The project
took the members of the Lodge, numbering 68, nearly 5 years to
complete.
Much
history connects this Historic Lodge with many members and organizations
in the Las Vegas greater area. Their support in the form of donations
of funds, materials, and labor are greatly appreciated. Without
which the project could not have been completed. Keystone Chapter
of Las Vegas finds its most early roots in the old building as
it was originally chartered by the Grand Lodge in this location
over 126 years ago. Their support in the form of dual memberships,
workers, and generous contributions is of special note, and deserves
our heartfelt gratitude as well. The list of those deserving full
recognition for their involvement is too long to be included here.
Please accept our thanks and take satisfaction in the knowledge
that The Great Architect knows whom you are.
The
new building provides for a easy-access ramp, entrance foyer,
two anti-rooms, and a large meeting room. It is connected to the
original native stone building that has been standing for over
126 years. The members of Saint John Lodge have decided to restore
and maintain the old Lodge hall and room as a museum to early
Masonic activities in its early part of our great nation's existence.
To that end they are keeping all of the furniture and appointments
of the Lodge room as they are. More display items are eagerly
sought from anyone who would like those memories laid up in our
Archives. New or used items are being acquired to appoint the
new hall from the generous efforts and contributions of the Masonic
Family far and wide.
The
Lodge Building also serves as the meeting place for Mizpah Chapter
#19, Order of the Eastern Star. This sister organization has shared
the hall and supported all of the various Masonic efforts since
their inception. Through their efforts many a wonderful meal,
grand social, and festive decor has been enjoyed by one and all.
They truly are our sisters.
Saturday, 13 May 2000, may just
be the largest assembly of Masonic family and guests ever to hit
this small and beautiful little town.
