The Scottish Rite Degrees

    For a candidate to be accepted to the Scottish Rite, it is a prerequsite for him to have completed the three symbolic degrees of the Blue Lodge of Freemasonry.

2° Fellowcraft

3° Master Mason

     Thus explaining the numbering of the degrees within the Scottish Rite, which starts with the fourth degree as indicated below and continues to the 33rd.

     The Scottish Rite is organized into four separate Lodges or Bodies as indicated below. In each of these bodies will be found the Instructive degrees that make up the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry itself.

THE SCOTTISH RITE "DISTINGUISHED HONORS"


Knight Commander of the Court of Honor

(K.C.C.H.)

 

     This is not a Degree but an investiture of rank and decoration of the Scottish Rite bestowed upon members deserving recognition for faithful services to the Rite. Selected Scottish Rite Masons who have held the 32° for at least four years and who have rendered signal service to Masonry may be nominated. Those chosen to receive the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor have it conferred upon them in an impressive ceremony of investure inwhich they receive the designation of K:.C:.C:.H:. and may be recognized by the wearing of the red cap with a dark red band trimmed in gold.

Members of the Scottish Rite, whom attain special distinction in their own rite, are honored by receiving the Honorific 33° and the designation of:

Council of Supreme Inspectors General of the 33°

(of which there are only 33 members in the entire Southern Jurisdiction of the United States)
